The minimum required for the work to be recognized by the scientific community is publication in a publication approved by the Higher Attestation Commission of Russia (HAC) or in a journal included in the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI).

The lists of HAC and RSCI include both Russian and foreign journals. To defend doctoral and master’s theses, it is necessary to have several publications in such publications. The number of published articles depends on the particular discipline and academic degree claimed by the author.

The largest bibliographic and abstract database currently in the world is Scopus. The full texts of articles from Scopus, if they are suddenly needed, can be downloaded using the Internet access in the libraries of educational institutions. Major universities and other academic and research centers usually have contracts with Scopus or other major international scientific publishers. If an article is published by a publisher that collaborates with Scopus, it automatically enters the database.

Types of scientific articles on the geography of publication

According to the geographical location of the publisher in which the article is published, one can distinguish:

international publications;
Russian publications.
When published in Russian collections, the article can be in English or Russian, should be published for the first time and meet a number of design requirements, which depend on the particular publication.

A scientific article can be published after the author speaks at an international scientific conference. They can be attended by Russian and foreign speakers (mainly CIS citizens).

Publication in international publications is valued higher. When an article is sent to the editorial office of a journal, several reviewers review it, each of whom expresses an opinion, and on the basis of all opinions, a decision is made to publish.
The process from sending to a journal to publication can take from 4 to 7 months in an international journal and a year and a half in a domestic one.
